A native Southern Californian, born in Los Angeles and raised in Ventura. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1977 with a B.A. in Sociology and a Master of Divinity in 1982 from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
Sue has served in many different parish contexts – urban, suburban and rural, serving her internship at Gracious Savior in Detroit, Michigan. She served as Pastor at St. John, Los Banos, St. Peter, Santa Ana, and Angelica, Los Angeles all in California. She taught English in Taiwan, participated in Amigos de las Americas in Honduras, traveling extensively.
Sue is married to Steven Devol who works on the national desk of the Los Angeles Times and they have one son, Pierce, who attends Burbank High School in Burbank where they make their home. You can contact Pastor Sue at suewdevol@gmail.com.
