Reconciling In Christ

In 1985, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church voted to become a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Congregation of Lutherans Concerned/North America.

We became an RIC congregation by adopting a Statement of Welcome explicitly encouraging gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons to become full participants in the life and ministry of the church.

We accept all people without regard to sexual orientation and encourage their full participation in all our ministries.

In 1990, after careful deliberation and study, the congregation determined that, because of our RIC ministry and our understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, St. Matthew's proudly performs traditional weddings and commitment and holy unions for same sex couples.
